Photographer Bikram Neupane is a professional photographer hailing from the picturesque Godavari Municipality in Lalitpur, Nepal. It is his immense pride to be the first professional photographer to emerge from his birthplace. His journey into the captivating world of photography began in 1989, when he entered the doors of Jasmin Photo Studio in Thankot. He officially embarked on his professional journey as a photographer in the form of studio photography. But even before that, since 1989, he had been sporadically capturing the beauty of weddings, nurturing his love for photography despite various demoralizing commitments. He started his own business of photography in 1998 by running his own photo studio situated in Dhapasi. He is also a lifetime member of the Kathmandu Photographer Association (KPA).He is also the founder and managing director of Photo Pasal Pvt.Ltd and chairman of Kathmandu Wedding Pvt.Ltd. His company has received many awards, like Canon KPA Wedding Photo Award 2016, the Canon Media Awards 2017, and the Photo Award 2017 and has taken 1st place in KPA Wedding Photo competition 2014

He yearned to learn more, and his pursuit led him to devour articles by renowned photographers, peruse numerous magazines, and analyze photographs from talented individuals. The desire to create something exceptional in the realm of photography has always been a driving force within him. While he may not claim to possess exhaustive knowledge of photography, he has been honored with awards and recognition from various photographic associations. However, the gap in comprehensive photographic knowledge among enthusiasts still resonates with him. To address this, he has taken the initiative to organize a nationwide COVID-19 photo competition through his company. Another competition, known as the "Couple Portrait Photography Competition-2021Award," was a collaborative effort with esteemed photographers from South America, Nepal, and India. It is his sincere belief that initiatives like these can make a significant contribution to the ever-evolving field of photography.

His journey has seen me capture the essence of renowned reality shows like "Dancing Star Nepal, "The Voice of Nepal," and "The Voice of Kids" as their official photographer. Additionally, he had the privilege of working with Dragon Air, a prominent Chinese Airlines company, and serving as the official photographer for "Ghost Writing Nepal," where he had the unique opportunity to photograph distinguished authors and writers, bringing their literary worlds to life. As he continues his personal journey, his life's goal remains unwavering—to persist in his passion for photography and to contribute to overcoming the challenges in this dynamic field. Thank you for visiting his website and joining him on this extraordinary photographic voyage. Let's capture the beauty of life, one frame at a time.

family for a very long time, he loved capturing people’s special days,, and hence chose wedding photography.

  • Photographer: Bibek Shrestha

Namaste, I am Bibek Shrestha, born in Lalitpur in 1982 A.D. I completed my SLC in 1998. Complete +2 in 2000 A.D and Bachelor’s Degree in 2004 A.D. I joined the master's program but didn’t complete it. I was born into a photographer family, and my photography journey started in childhood. My father is a professional photographer, and he owned a studio called “Machhindra Photo Studio,” which was established in 1978 A.D. in Tangal, Lalitpur, Nepal. I started learning photography under his guidance. So he is my mentor and teacher in my photography career. In my early childhood, I started learning photography by seeing the way he takes photos, retouching photos and negatives, developing films and photos in darkroom, making chemical for developing films and photos, and having knowledge of different grades of paper and film, etc. So, I started imitating the work of my father. He guided me in every step of my learning phase. Slowly, I learned different aspects of photography. At the age of 16 to 17, I have learned all the methods and knowledge of photography skills that are necessary to run a photo studio. Now, I feel great that I was able to gain knowledge of all aspects of photography, from all analog photography processing like film development, negative retouching, and photo development in Photoshop to advanced digital photography.

During my photography career, I got the chance to use and learn about different kinds of cameras, from 36mm film to 120mm medium format cameras. For instance, Rolle Cord, Pearl River, Yashica, Mamiya, Nikon, Minolta, Canon, etc. are the cameras that I have used in the analog era. Currently, I am using Canon gear for my professional work.

I started my first professional career in 1999 A.D. at the age of 17 as a wedding photographer, and since then I have been working as a wedding photographer. I have experienced lots of ups and downs in my working period, which has polished my skills. Apart from my father's business, I am strongly focused on freelance photography. I have been working not only as a photographer but also as a videographer. I worked as a photographer and videographer at Wedding Dairy for about 2 and a half years and for other companies too, and many companies offered to work with me. But I rejected all the offers. Working with them is just like “Kaam Garne Kalu, Maakai khane bhalu.”. So I started working for my own clients only, where I could find complete satisfaction, so that I could give them quality work with good client relations. I don’t have a huge client circle, but the clients I have are fully satisfied with the work, effort, and time I have given them. I believe in quality, not quantity. I love this proverb: “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.”. So don’t depend on someone else; do it yourself. If you do it yourself, you will earn a name, fame, and money. For others, you will get nothing.

I love to explore the diversity of photography, so I never stick to wedding photography alone. I have done cultural, landscape, fashion, portraits, corporate, macro, social, and news photography as well. Diversity in photography helps me gain lots of knowledge and information to boost my photography skills. As a photographer, I think learning is never-ending. Today, the world is walking in the digital era, and as a photographer, it’s very tough for all of us because we should have to keep up with camera gear, computers, lenses, software, information, news, and other accessories. So without this knowledge, one couldn’t be a complete photographer. So being a photographer is a challenging job.

In conclusion, self-respect and self-belief are the key mottos in my photography career. Giving the best of my knowledge is my belief, and client satisfaction is my self-respect, and this motto justifies my passion.
